The Rockets have many options at forward as they look for consistency.

It’s been an inconsistent start to the season for Jabari Smith Jr., as Nick pointed out in his article here at TDS a few days ago. He had a good game last night against the San Antonio Spurs. So we basically have two good games wedged in between two not-so-good ones. This inconsistent start to the season mirrors Jabari’s inconsistent start to his career overall.
The Rockets have two other potential options at the forward spot in Tari Eason and Amen Thompson. All three of these players are young. Eason and Thompson are likely to be inconsistent as starters as well. But some fans are already getting impatient with Smith. With how good Paolo Banchero and Chet Holmgren have been, Smith has been in a clear tier behind with Keegan Murray. it’s not hard to see why some fans are frustrated.
But what we want to know is, do you think it is time yet to start someone else at forward? Eason continues to create chaos (the good kind), and Thompson brings a new dimension entirely from an athletic standpoint. Would that translate with the starting lineup?
It’s early in the season, but if the Rockets are going to take the leap we want them to, they’re going to need to get consistent. What’s the way forward, Rockets fans? Keep on, keepin’ on or shake things up?
