Jaden Springer is headed to H-town.
The Houston Rockets ensured it wouldn’t be a totally quiet deadline, as they traded today with the Boston Celtics for guard Jaden Springer, according to Shams.

The 6’4” Springer was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 28th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He didn’t play much and was traded last year to the Boston Celtics, where he continued to not play much. Springer is just 22 years old, so he does still hold some upside and also fits in with Houston’s development timeline. This is also the last year of his contract, so the Rockets for now are making a move on the margins.
Springer carries career averages of 2.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists on 40.8 percent shooting from the floor and 25 percent from deep in about 8 minutes per night. Not exactly stellar numbers. He did look like he a chance to break through towards the latter side of his time in Philly, but the 76ers decided to move on from him just as he was becoming part of the rotation. Who knows, maybe Ime Udoka can get him back into a groove in Houston?
That’s the first move for the Rockets so far. There’s been some other rumors as well. We’ll be talking about those here shortly.
