The Rockets snagged a shooter.
It was announced last week (and again, I was on vacation this past week and am playing catch up) that the Houston Rockets signed forward Jack McVeigh, formerly of the Tasmania JackJumpers of the Australian NBL, to a two-way contract.
The 6’8” forward averaged 17.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists to go along with 52.5 percent shooting from the floor and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc, helping lift the JackJumpers to a 16-12 record on the year and the NBL Championship. McVeigh was named both the Grand Final MVP and also the JackJumpers team MVP.
McVeigh also spent time with Adelaide of the NBL after going undrafted in 2019 and is a career 37.9 percent three-point shooter.
Prior to that, the Australian native played college ball at Nebraska, where he left early to play for the Gold Coast Rollers of the Queensland Basketball League.
The 28-year-old brings height and shooting to the Rockets, and while not known for his defense, I do think this is an intriguing signing, which is why I wanted to get a post up about it.
Let me know what you guys think about this pickup.
