Might Houston make a move?
We’ve heard it time and again: the 2024 NBA Draft is a weak one. There are no sure-fire stars. There are, however, players that appear useful. Reed Sheppard is one of them, particularly for a team short on shooting like the Houston Rockets.
But the Rockets also have a log jam of young talent, and according to a recent report, rival GMs are saying Houston is open for business.
According to Bleacher Report (so take that as you will):
“Rival teams say No. 3 is for sale. There isn’t much room on the Houston Rockets roster for another project and the team plans to exit the rebuilding stage for a run up the standings.”
Keep in mind that it is also smokescreen season, but I don’t think anyone would be surprised to hear that the Rockets have been shopping the pick. Rafael Stone is willing to wheel and deal, and with so much uncertainty in this draft, it very well may behoove the Rockets to use the pick in order to grab either a veteran or some future assets in a stronger draft down the line.
Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen, but should the Rockets elect to stay at three, there’s any number of guys that could potentially go that high. With virtually no consensus on the best players, it’s anyone’s guess how that could play out.
But make sure you check out Ray’s draft profiles for some of the potential names that might be a good fit in H-town should Stone not decide to trade the pick.
