The second and third overall picks in the draft face off tonight
After an impressive opening round win against Bronny James, Dalton Knecht, and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Houston Rockets turn their Summer League attention to Alexandre Sarr and the Washington Wizards.
I know that Rafael Stone said that Reed Sheppard was at the top of Houston draft board, but teams always say things like that regarding their picks. Surely Houston’s front office was interested in Sarr, who is a 7-foot raw talent with plenty of upside. The Wizards are still firmly in a rebuild except for the fact that in the East, you’ve always got a chance to make a push.
Sheppard was phenomenal in the first game and Cam Whitmore did exactly what you expect from Cam Whitmore. I’m not sure how long Stone and Ime Udoka want to see those two play against inferior competition, but since both are expected to be featured in the rotation I would expect either a shut down soon or a limited minutes policy soon. The Rockets are already set on their total number of players, so they would probably like to give the rest of the SL roster get a chance to show out in front of GMs and coaches.
Tip-off is at 5pm CT on ESPN2
