The Rockets wrap up the preseason against Victor Wembanyama, Chris Paul, and the San Antonio Spurs
The Houston Rockets wrap up the preseason tonight against the San Antonio Spurs. It’s a final tune-up for two teams looking to make a leap up the standings. For Houston, the goal is the playoffs. For the Spurs, it’s get into the play-in conversation.
Victor Wembanyama has accelerated San Antonio’s rebuild, but the Spurs still feel a few pieces away from being the scary entity that everyone expects them to become. The first piece of the puzzle this season was to bring in Chris Paul on a one-year deal. San Antonio’s lack of a lob thrower or even just a player who could consistently get the ball to Wemby last season hurt them. CP3 solves that issue almost immediately, and the deal works out as a win-win for both sides. Paul will be a veteran leader that the Spurs need (much like Fred VanVleet has been in Houston), but his deal also makes him incredibly tradeable. The belief is that the Spurs and Paul came to an agreement and Paul will be able to pick his destination at the trade deadline in his search for that elusive championship ring.
Xiane and I will be on Playback again for this one. Remember, we can give out 20 passes to watch the game even if you don’t have League Pass or access to Rockets games. Don’t search for an illegal stream when you can just come in, watch legally for free, and hang out with other Rockets fans. It’ll be fun!
