The Rockets look to sweep the 2-game series against the Blazers tonight
After getting off to a slow start against the Portland Trail Blazers last night, the Houston Rockets did what was expected of them: won a boring blowout against a team still trying to figure out how their young talent fits together. Portland is on Year 2 of the rebuild, which is just as painful as Year 1. Year 3 may not be much better, but Year 4 will start to offer some real hope.
The West, as always, is crowded. As I type this, the difference between the 3 seed (Houston) and the 11 seed (out of the playoffs entirely) is two losses. A bad week for Houston could spell a big tumble, but right now the Rockets are playing like a team that’s enjoying the game and grind. When you have the depth Houston does, it’s fine if one or two (or even three!) players have bad nights. Others should be able to step up.
So it’s important yet again for the Rockets to take care of business against a Portland team that fought hard for stretches and found success in getting to the line in the third quarter, but is still missing any semblance of an offensive system. Much like the Rockets of two seasons ago, they desperately need a Fred VanVleet.
We’ll be in the Playback room tonight, so you should come join to watch the Rockets and talk about the game. Remember, we get a handful of VIP passes that we give out to anyone who wants to watch the game. No League Pass necessary!
