The Rockets look to close out the “regular season” of the Summer League with a win
With the Houston Rockets dropping their third game of the Summer League, their chances of advancing to the playoff round is unlikely. Only the top four teams get a shot at the title, and usually it takes an undefeated run to clinch. Otherwise, you’re in tiebreaker territory.
So Houston’s game tonight in Vegas will probably be their penultimate contest, with another guaranteed game coming over the weekend.
Tonight’s game will feature two players who should end up on the All-Vegas teams in Reed Sheppard and Terrence Shannon Jr. Both look ready to contribute for teams looking to win. Minnesota also made the splash of the first round when they traded up to take Rob Dillingham at #8. Sheppard and Dillingham were of course teammates at Kentucky last season. Finally, former Rocket Daishen Nix is also with the Wolves.
I have no clue what to expect here. The Rockets might play their best players again, and I’m excited to see Orlando Robinson play. However, with less than nothing to play for, Houston could decide to let their lesser-known players get some run tonight to draw the attention of other front offices.
Tip-off is at 10pm CT on ESPN
