The Rockets look to bounce back against the resurgent Grizzlies
It might be time to slow down the hype train.
The Houston Rockets got off to the start we expected against the Charlotte Hornets, but a disastrous offensive stretch starting at the end of the first half eventually led to Houston’s doom. Charlotte scored more points in each quarter than the last, and too many early shot clock three point attempts from Houston’s backcourt were the difference.
Houston next three games are against two teams with designs of making the playoffs. We’ll talk about San Antonio this weekend, but tonight we’ll break down the Memphis Grizzlies. After a season ruined by injuries (and Ja Morant’s 25 game suspension), the Grizzlies are primed to return to their perch among the best teams in the West. Two seasons ago, the young Grizz grabbed the 2 seed in the Western Conference before losing in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a refresher, this was the “under any circumstance” series with Dillon Brooks talking a lot of trash about LeBron James. The Lakers won Game 6 by 40.
With Morant back and healthy, Memphis has every reason to feel confident that they can solidify themselves as a playoff team. They’re too good to be dealing with the play-in, and their win in Utah against a game Jazz squad was step one towards relevancy once again. As you can see by the injury report below, they’re still dealing with injuries and may be without Jaren Jackson Jr. That would help Houston, but then against the Hornet were missing three starters for most of Wednesday night’s game.
Xiane and I will be on Playback again for this one. Remember, we can give out 20 passes to watch the game even if you don’t have League Pass or access to Rockets games. Don’t search for an illegal stream when you can just come in, watch legally for free, and hang out with other Rockets fans. It’ll be fun!
