The Rockets and Grizzlies face off for the second time in five days, this time in Houston
Thanks to the game on Saturday in Atlanta being postponed, this is sort of a home-and-home for the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets met the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night in Tennessee. Houston picked up the win and solidified their place as the number two team in the Western Conference. Tonight, the teams meet in Houston for the second time this season.
In the meantime, Houston had a game postponed due to winter storms in Georgia and Memphis went into Minnesota and won an aweesome back-and-forth affair against the Timberwolves. Ja Morant hit two tough shots in the final minute to turn a 2-point deficit into a 2-point win. Even with a loss tonight, the Rockets will still be in the second spot in the West thanks to the tiebreaker and a few percentage points.
In the game on Thursday, Houston by forcing 20 Grizzlies turnovers and scoring 31 points off of them. However, Houston returned the favor with 14 missed free throws and several missed bunnies on fast breaks and semi-transition. I’m sure Memphis fans would see that game as eminently winnable, but as a Rockets fan it’s hard not to think that the game should have been a blowout if Houston had made a few more free throws and shots around the rim. And if Memphis hadn’t hit multiple end-of-clock grenades.
Regardless, the game on Thursday is now in the past and doesn’t matter tonight.
We’ll be in the Playback room tonight, so you should come join to watch the Rockets and talk about the game. Remember, we get a handful of VIP passes that we give out to anyone who wants to watch the game. No League Pass necessary!
