The Rockets look to build a 3-game winning streak when they return to Toyota Center to take on the 4-1 Warriors
Are the Golden State Warriors still “light years ahead?” Can they succeed once their stars have departed to other teams or free agency? Well, we’ll get a glimpse of that tonight.
Already gone is Klay Thompson, he of the “never misses against the Houston Rockets in his entire career” fame. Steph Curry is out tonight with an ankle injury, though the Warriors are 2-0 without him. Draymond Green has been the real difference-maker between these teams in the past, and he’s playing.
With some teams, you know they’ll only stay irrelevant for so long. The Lakers have had a couple of lulls, but eventually a superstar will want to go there for the prestige and the team will suddenly become a contender. New York has a similar vibe though with less success, as has Miami in recent decades.
Can the Warriors stay relevant when Curry retires? Or is he such a supernova that it’s impossible to keep a team good when he departs? Is the Bay Area enough of a draw for superstars like its counterpart in Southern California? We’re just a few years away from finding out.
Xiane will be in the Playback room tonight, so you should come join to watch the Rockets and talk about the game. Remember, we get a handful of VIP passes that we give out to anyone who wants to watch the game. No League Pass necessary!
