For C.J. Stroud, it’s best to burn Week 7’s tape.
Watch it once, study the mistakes and find the errors. After that, set that thing on fire and never let it enter your brain again.
Stroud delivered what could be his worst performance since being drafted by the Houston Texans in 2023 in Sunday’s 24-22 loss against the Green Bay Packers. Not only did he hit career lows in completion percentage (47.6%) and passing yards (86), but his 58.5 passer rating also marked near the bottom of all passers in Week 7.
Without Nico Collins, the passing game was stale, at best. Being sacked four times did little to help the problem, too.
“We just have to be better in protection, and I have to be better at getting the ball out on time,” Stroud said postgame. “It is a multitude of things.”
Stroud’s lack of success factored into Houston’s loss, but was it enough to knock him out of the top 10 among passers? Does he still land among the best passers entering next’s week matchup against the Colts?
Every Tuesday, Texans Wire will give you the top 10 passing performances of the week and keep track of Stroud’s dominance — or this week downfall — throughout the regular season.
