The Houston Texans must fix their woes within eight days if they plan on rebounding after blowing a 16-point first-half lead on ‘Sunday Night Football’ against the Detroit Lions. Even with a five-takeaway night, the Texans found a way to drop a victory within reach.
Pro Bowl-caliber Nico Collins is on the brink of returning for the Monday Night Football action against the struggling Dallas Cowboys, but that might not be enough to prove that Houston is a legitimate “contender” in the AFC.
The good news? The Texans remain two games above everyone else in the division for the AFC South title. With wins over Jacksonville and Indianapolis, a victory against the Titans on Nov. 24 might be enough to secure a playoff berth at 4-0.
Well, at least in theory it’s possible.
Does that mean Houston would get a bye in the AFC playoff? Right now, no. The Texans would technically be the lowest seed among division winners should the season end on Sunday. They would host a playoff game against the top-seeded wild-card roster.
With a win, the Texans would take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round for the first time since 2019.
