Three-time Pro Bowler wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is officially on the free agent market, and the Ravens and Chiefs could be his next teams. According to several reports, the Miami Dolphins are releasing Beckham after he played just nine games and recorded nine catches for 55 yards. The wide receiver began his tenure in Miami on the physically unable-to-perform list, but the team brought him back in October. Beckham didn’t have a huge role on the team since they already had stars Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle who’ve been carrying most of the weight.
Originally selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the veteran spent just one year with each team for the past three seasons since joining the Rams but ended up tearing his ACL where he won his Super Bowl ring. Beckham missed the entire 2022 season so his production has been slowing down. However, one report says he’s looking for the next opportunity with the postseason around the corner, this could be the perfect time to join forces with a legitimate contender to revitalize his career. There’s no clear indication if Beckham will garner interest anytime soon but a team could call for his services as solid depth during the final week of the NFL regular season.
Beckham isn’t the same player he once was with the New York Giants under the Eli Manning era but he could easily earn a rotational role on a short-term basis. Several teams like the Ravens, Chiefs should keep Beckham on their radar for the next few weeks.

Possible Fits
Baltimore Ravens
The Diontae Johnson trade has not been going as planned since bringing him in after Rashod Bateman got hurt. However, the Ravens continue to be stellar on the ground game but they could use some wide receiver depth. Beckham might not be high on their list of what they’re looking for since releasing him this past offseason, but he was a reliable chain-mover who could help relieve the stress off Zay Flowers and Bateman. Bringing in some familiarity behind Nelson Agholor could get this offense on the right pace while they’re slowing down the wild card race of the postseason.
Kansas City Chiefs
While the Kansas City Chiefs are getting Marquise Brown back in the lineup, they traded for DeAndre Hopkins to help Patrick Mahomes’ vision down the field. It’s been Jaylen Watson carrying most of the workload ahead of Mecole Hardman and rookie Xavier Worthy for the last couple of weeks so they could bring in a veteran like Beckham to deepen the group. Beckham might not be the long-term solution but the Chiefs could bring him as a potential upgrade over JuJu Smith-Schuster who’s been fading in the background. Travis Kelce hasn’t been the same MVP the past two seasons so Beckham’s presence could create some separation in the aerial attack to help Mahomes find him when he’s open.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are looking like the real deal to become the dark horse this postseason despite losing to the Ravens and Chiefs in the regular season this year. Rookie Ladd McConkey is becoming more of Justin Herbert’s long-term answer but that hasn’t been the same for Quentin Johnston. Meanwhile, Joshua Palmer has his moments but having Beckham in the backend to help DJ Chark could improve this offense. Beckham doesn’t need to be full-time but come in on third-down possessions to help Herbert find a reliable veteran to throw to with solid hands.
Houston Texans
The Texans have a solid WR1 from Nico Collins but since losing Stefon Diggs, they haven’t found a temporary solution for C.J. Stroud. Tank Dell hasn’t been himself like last year but a veteran like Beckham could provide some relief. With the Texans set to win the AFC South, Beckham could solidify this offense with more weapons even if he doesn’t have a huge role.
