The NFL offseason is a time of constant roster shuffling.
On Tuesday, the Houston Texans released a trio of players: wide receiver Alex Bachman, linebacker/defensive end Myjai Sanders and defensive back Josh Thompson.
Of the three, only Sanders saw action with Houston last season, appearing in seven games and making seven tackles after being claimed off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.
A third-round pick of the Cardinals out of Cincinnati in 2022, the 6-foot-5, 248-pound Sanders played in 13 games for Arizona as a rookie, making four starts and finishing with one 23 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Thompson, meanwhile, played in six games for the Tennessee Titans in 2022, logging six tackles. Bachman, who also returns kicks and punts in addition to playing receiver, made four appearances for the New York Giants in 2020-21, returning four kickoffs for 94 yards, one punt for 16 yards and losing three yards on his only carry.
The Texans are coming off a breakout 2023 season, which featured a 10-7 regular season record and AFC South championship. Led by rookie head coach Demeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, Houston routed the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the AFC playoffs before losing to the Baltimore Ravens.
