Thudding is the name of Thursday’s practice since the Houston Texans will finally hit someone other than themselves for 90 minutes in the sweltering Texas heat.
The Texans return for Thursday’s last tune-up for joint reps with the Los Angeles Rams before their preseason finale at NRG Stadium. Starters aren’t expected to play in Saturday’s contest, so this could be the last time fans see C.J. Stroud and Stefon Diggs connect until the Week 1 rolls around.
Yes, the Texans want to hit. They want to make plays. They want to prove to fans why 2024 could be the best season in franchise history. DeMeco Ryans, however, wants to keep everything smart and players healthy on both sides heading into the respective season openers.
“The main idea behind joint practice is you get a chance to play physical football,” Ryans said. “You thug guys up and we’re still not going to the ground. Both teams treat each other like teammates like we would normally practice. No cheap shots or anything like that, but it’s about getting good quality work in.
Here are some live updates from a bright, warm and sunny Day 21 of Texans training camp at The Methodist Center.
