The NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday, meaning teams have less than 24 hours to make trades for the rest of the season. Will the Houston Texans be in the running a player for a player of value?
Houston has rarely made impactful in-season trades over the last several years to better the roster. Perhaps the most memorable one came back in 2018 after acquiring Demaryius Thomas from the Denver Broncos in exchange for a fourth and seventh-round pick.
Albeit a good idea at the time, Thomas only played in seven games for the Texans, catching 23 passes for 275 yards before suffering a torn Achilles in Week 18. He was released the following season, leaving Houston down another receiver once more.
The Texans could use help by adding a receiver or interior offensive line after losing two starters to season-ending injuries in five days. Third-year offensive lineman Kenyon Green suffered a dislocated shoulder in Week 9’s loss against the New York Jets. Four days earlier, All-Pro receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in the win over the Indianapolis Colts.
It’s unlikely Houston will make a blockbuster trade before Tuesday’s deadline, but general manager Nick Caserio could add in a piece or two to elevate the team’s status entering Week 10.
