Expectations are understandably high for Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud heading into his rookie season. But thus far, he seems to be more than impressing the veterans on the team.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, Texans offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil praised the rookie quarterback for how he’s approached things since joining the team earlier this offseason. He said that he loves Stroud’s leadership skills.
“He handles himself well. He came into this building with unbelievable leadership skills and he’s straight killin’ it man. How I would describe CJ is ‘dawg.’ He’s a straight dawg that comes in there ready to work. He handles the huddle perfectly and he goes out there and balls. You gotta appreciate that especially in a young quarterback like CJ,” Tunsil said.
High praise from a quarterback who has worked with a litany of quarterbacks of all ages since entering the league in 2016.

The Houston Texans made Stroud the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft – their highest pick used on a quarterback since David Carr when the franchise first joined the league in 2002.
After winning just 11 games over the past three seasons, the Texans need a quarterback to step in and bring them back to respectability.
Will CJ Stroud prove to be the guy?
