While the Houston Texans have questions surrounding their secondary and wide receiver room, shoring up the offensive line is essential this offseason.
Free agency is one way to bolster its trenches, but Houston could also go for the cost-friendly route via the draft. The addition of a player with five years of potential roster control would allow the Texans to spend more in free agency at other positions while shoring up protection for C.J. Stroud.
Yahoo! Sports believes that the Texans would be wise to bring in an interior offensive lineman during the first round, hence why they have Houston selecting Purdue offensive lineman Marcus Mbow with 20th overall pick.
C.J. Stroud is constantly under duress and the Texans’ run game is one of the least efficient in the league, despite Joe Mixon’s best efforts. Mbow is a very good athlete who springs out of his stance. He could look to add some lower body strength, but he plays tough and is able to bend and stay balanced in space, while also already showing off the ability to cut off defenders on the backside. He would boost the Texans’ offensive line no matter what spot he’d end up at.”
Purdue OL Marcus Mbow continues to play well this season. Even against Oregon, Mbow gave up just one pressure. He had a ton of fun as a run blocker in this game as well. pic.twitter.com/hvsQCgnS1w
