Welcome to the 2024 season, Houston Texans fans.
With the preseason in the books, the Texans begin their quest for a shot at an AFC crown this fall. Six long weeks of training camp have come and gone. Now, all sights turn to Week 1’s matchup against Indianapolis for what could be a season to remember in the AFC South.
Following a 17-15 preseason finale win over the Los Angeles Rams, the Texans trimmed their roster from 91 players to 53. Several names that were expected to be traded or cut stuck around through Tuesday’s 3 p.m. deadline on the active roster. Others who were expected to make the final roster were handed a pink slip.
The Texans aren’t done. With the waiver wire set to commence, Houston can target several names it wants to add to the active roster. The Texans also must build a 17-man practice squad out of players who were waived and those freshly cut.
Here’s the initial 53-man roster heading into Week 1’s showdown at Lucas Oil Stadium.
