Another week, another close win.
This is becoming a common theme for the Houston Texans at the halfway point of the regular season.
Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon ran for 102 yards with that touchdown in the 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at NRG Stadium. Mixon, a former standout with the Cincinnati Bengals, became the first player in NFL history to have at least 100 yards rushing and a TD run in four of his first five games with a new team.
“I’m in my element. I’m in my zone honestly,” Mixon said. “It’s a great thing where I can be able to try to do whatever I can to put the team on my back.”
C.J. Stroud doubled his stat total from a week ago, passing for 285 yards and a touchdown while completing 25-of-37 pass attempts. The defense sacked Anthony Richardson five times, including once on the final play that led to a fumble recovery by Will Anderson Jr.
Here’s how we graded out this week’s performance from the 6-2 Texans as they quickly rebound on a short week to face the New York Jets on “Thursday Night Football.”
