It wasn’t pretty, but every win counts.
The Houston Texans looked sloppy, gave up too many free yards due to penalties and coughed up a fumble at the goal line that would have iced the game Sunday night against the Chicago Bears. They also forced two turnovers overs and sacked Caleb Williams seven times en route to a 19-13 victory.
For the first time since 2016, Houston is 2-0 to start the season. C.J. Stroud set a new home record while Nico Collins might be on pace to shatter every record from last season after his second 100-yard outing.
The Texans already have a two-game lead on the rest of the AFC South entering their second road trip to Minnesota. Meanwhile, the three other members who were supposed to be competitive are winless and could end up dropping another game before Week 4.
The Texans look like the most complete team in the division, but they’ll have to clean up multiple mental mistakes that kept things close. Eventually, that will become a concern late in the fourth quarter against opponents with establish quarterback play.
