The Houston Texans are as familiar with the bottom of an NFL power ranking as they are with the paucity of fans at NRG Stadium.
According to Mark Lane from the Touchdown Wire, the Texans remained No. 32 overall in the power rankings for the fifth straight week.
The Texans went with Kyle Allen to provide the offense with a spark, but it hardly did that as Houston fell down 30-0 by halftime. The Texans don’t have one position group they can hang their hat on as being dominant. Houston fans may have to hang their heads until the offseason when they can fantasizing about their possible No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
The one element that brought optimism until the past two weeks was the running game with rookie Dameon Pierce. However, not only has the fourth-rounder been stuffed, but the Texans’ run game has not crested 50 yards rushing the past two weeks.
Across the rest of the AFC South, the Indianapolis Colts were No. 28 following their loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers at home on Monday Night Football. The Jacksonville Jaguars actually cracked the top-16 with their first placement at the median point this season. Such is the reward for beating the Baltimore Ravens with a bold two-point conversion — and actually succeeding. The Tennessee Titans measured at No. 10 after their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at home.
