The Houston Texans did some early training camp roster shuffling on Sunday.
Houston activated defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins and cornerback Kendall Sheffield from the Physically Unable to Perform list, and in order to make room, waived another veteran, wide receiver Amari Rodgers.

The Texans claimed Rodgers off waivers in November 2022 after he was let go by the Green Bay Packers. In six games with Houston, Rodgers caught 12 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown.
The former Clemson star was a third-round pick of the Packers in 2021, but failed to carve out a role as a receiver (only eight total receptions for 95 yards) and fell out of favor as a kick returner due to fumbling issues.
With Nico Collins and veteran Robert Woods established as starters, 2022 second-round pick John Metchie now healthy after battling leukemia and rookie Tank Dell and ex-Cowboy Noah Brown also in the mix, Rodgers is likely the victim of a numbers game at wide receiver in Houston.
Most likely, he’ll catch on somewhere else soon and have an opportunity to crack a 53-man roster.
