After going 7-5 through their first 12 games, the Houston Texans have fallen to 8-7 on the season following a concussion suffered by star rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. Ahead of Sunday’s must-win game against the Tennessee Titans, Stroud appears to be on the mend.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Stroud is expected to practice today for the first time since suffering the concussion in Week 14. Per the report, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said this week that Stroud has been returning to team meetings as recently as this past Friday.
“Potential good news for the #Texans: QB CJ Stroud, in the NFL’s concussion protocol, is expected to practice today. Coach DeMeco Ryans told @StaceyDales on Sunday that Stroud had been in meetings on Friday. “He’s definitely making progress.” This would be more progress,” Rapoport wrote.
Stroud is completing 62.4-percent of his passes this season with 3,631 yards and 20 touchdowns to only five interceptions.

The Texans are hoping to cap off their quick turnaround of a season with a playoff berth but have struggled to hold things down in Stroud’s absence.
Backup Case Keenum is 1-1 as a starter but only barely got the Texans across the finish line against the Titans two weeks ago.
Will Stroud be able to lead the Texans to the playoffs?
