Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio addressed rumors of him going to the New England Patriots after the NFL Draft.
Caserio began Monday’s media availability, via KHOU-TV’s Daniel Gotera (h/t Pro Football Talk), by forcefully denying chatter of him leaving Houston.
“Quite frankly, I’m almost embarrassed that I have to say anything,” Caserio said. “Honestly, I feel sort of like Leonardo DiCaprio in Wolf of Wall Street, but I’m not leaving. There’s never really been any substantive discussions of the sort.”

Caserio, who said he felt obligated to make a statement, added that he’s “grateful” for his current opportunity. He acknowledged the difficult task ahead of turning Houston into a contender.
“We understood when we arrived, when we got here, there was a lot of work to be done,” he continued. “And I think when you look across the NFL landscape, there’s a lot of work to be done in every organization. I think we’ve made some progress. We still have a lot of work in front of us.”
Even when reporting the rumors of Caserio moving on, Audacy’s John McClain called the idea “preposterous.”
Caserio has a huge day ahead on April 27, as the Texans hold picks No. 2 and 12. While Houston will presumably leave the first round with a new quarterback, Caserio said they’re “open to listening” to offers for the No. 2 selection.
