Do Texans fans think the team is ready for the big stage?
The Houston Texans face their biggest challenge of the 2024 season so far this Sunday when Josh Allen and the 3-1 Buffalo Bills come to town. The Bills are no doubt one of the top dawgs in the AFC of late and if Houston wants to put themselves in the AFC Conference Champion conversation, they need to start by shutting up the Bills.
Will Laremy Tunsil stop committing penalties? Will Derek Stingley Jr. pick off Allen for 6? Can the running game finally get on track this weekend? Those things and more need to happen to shut down Buffalo.
With that in mind, we asked the true believers of Battle Red Blog who they thought would cover the spread this weekend and emerge victorious. Here’s what they said:
While it’s hard to argue that the Bills just might have the better team at this moment, it is a little surprising there isn’t a larger homer percentage in this result. This team has no quit in them – including asking Tunsil to quit false starting… guess that last part isn’t a good thing, but hey, no quitters!
With that not so big boost of fan confidence out of the way, we checked in just how strong an impression Demeco Ryans defense was making. I mean, come on, it’s Demeco Ryans! And Danielle Hunter. And Henry To’o’To’o! Let’s Go!
So, we asked the fine Battle Red fans, how confident they are in the current Texans D.
Swing and a miss? Not ready for prime time? Well, over 70% combined seem to feel the D is either just good enough or not quite good enough. Honestly, it’s hard to blame anyone for that considering the way things have gone recently.
But, this team is 5th in yards allowed with only 273.8 yards per game average. On top of that the Texans are 4th in sacks with 14 so far this year. While they aren’t top 20 in takeaways, they’re also not in points per game given up, at 23.5. So, yeah, there’s still work to be done.
Good thing C.J. Stroud has a cannon for an arm…
That brought us to the million dollar question of the week.
Do you think this is finally the year the Texans make it to the AFC Championship.
And our survey says…
bzzzzzzzzz
Apparently the Texans family feud is coming to sports bars all across H-Town this weekend.
That brings up the question of confidence.
Just how confident are Texans fans in the direction Demo has us going?
Over 3/4ths of Texans fans are confident we’re heading the right way. Hopefully this weekend will continue that winning direction and change the minds of some who voted against Stroud and the fellas hoisting the AFC crown in January.
No matter what the polls say, always remember:
