The Houston Texans managed to climb higher in the power rankings thanks to their 37-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3 at EverBank Field.
According to Jarrett Bailey from the Touchdown Wire, the Texans’ victory over the reigning AFC South champions was good enough to move Houston from No. 28 to No. 23 in the latest poll entering Week 4.
The Texans are this year’s Lions. They have a fun team full of guys who are easy to root for, and a head coach who all the players seem to rally around. At 1-2, and coming off a win over the Jaguars, Houston could surprise some people.
What has buoyed the Texans is rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has yet to commit a turnover through the air. The No. 2 overall pick has lost a fumble in each of the Texans’ two losses, but avoided the pressure against Jacksonville. Houston’s defense also came up with an interception of Trevor Lawrence along with the special teams taking points off the board for Jacksonville — and adding some of their own.
Across the rest of the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans finished No. 26. The Indianapolis Colts are No. 18. The Jaguars slipped to No. 9.
