The Houston Texans may need little time to deliberate their No. 2 selection.
Per NFL Network’s James Palmer, Houston is eyeing Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud with the pick. The Texans don’t sound nervous about the Carolina Panthers taking their preferred target with the No. 1 choice.
“The Texans have the mindset right now of, let’s see who gets picked at No. 1, and we’ll take the other guy,” Palmer said. “Because both of them check a lot of boxes.”

Palmer said head coach DeMeco Ryans “heavily” values their experience playing meaningful games in college. Young played in the National Championship Game during his sophomore year at Alabama, and Stroud took Ohio State to the College Football Playoff last season.
Ryans also prioritizes intangibles such as leadership.
According to Palmer, many evaluators around the league consider Young and Stroud a “1A and 1B” at quarterback is no particular other. While that’s not a particularly surprising development, Anthony Richardson’s stock seemed to soar after a highly impressive showing at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Stroud is scheduled to visit the Texans on Wednesday, and Ryans said Young will also meet with them. It’s looking more likely Houston will draft one of them later this month.
