The Houston Texans already clinched the AFC South division. Now, they’re looking to clinch something other than the No. 4 seed.
Houston hits the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs for what could be a possible postseason preview should the Texans win in the wild-card round against their opponent. The Texans are missing two key elements in defensive back Jalen Pitre, who suffered a season-ending chest injury in Week 12’s loss against the Titans, and Azeez Al-Shaair, who’s currently dealing with a three-game suspension.
Kansas City, the AFC top seed following its win over the Cleveland Browns, could clinch the first-round bye with a win on Saturday afternoon. The Chiefs also could be short-handed since three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes is dealing with a high ankle sprain.
With a victory, the Texans would inch closer to securing the No. 3 in the AFC playoff. Houston likely can’t clinch the No. 1 seed but with wins over Kansas City and Baltimore, the Texans would hold head-to-heads over all three potential division winners. It would also would allow them to rest players for the season finale against Tennessee in Nashville.
Here’s how the Texans and Chiefs stack up statistically ahead of Saturday’s matchup.
