Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud continues to show why he was a top-three pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Stroud set the NFL’s single-game rookie passing record this past Sunday after throwing for 470 yards and five touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He led a game-winning drive with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter to get the Texans to 4-4 overall. He ended up hitting wide receiver Tank Dell for the game-winning touchdown.
If there’s anyone who knows how good Stroud is, it’s his former college head coach, Ryan Day. Day loves what he’s been seeing from Stroud so far.
“He deserves all the success he’s receiving. A lot of people questioned him in certain ways, but you never saw him react in any way. He’s a pro. He’s given that organization hope,” Day said on Tuesday.

Day is absolutely right on all accounts, especially on his last point about “hope.” There’s little doubt that the Texans have found their starting quarterback for the long haul.
They’ll look to get above .500 this Sunday when they travel to Cincinnati to play the Bengals.
Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. ET.
