The Houston Texans will reportedly face a very tough two-game stretch towards the end of this season.
Per beat reporter Cody Stoots, the league’s schedule-makers did the Texans no favors late in the year. Houston is slated to play the back-to-back defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs on Dec. 21 before a Christmas Day bout with the Baltimore Ravens on the 25th.
Fans were blown away that the NFL’s decision on social media:
“wait so we play Dec 21st Saturday then December 25th Wednesday?” a Texans supporter asked.
“‘player safety is very important to us!’ … ‘here play two games in 4 days.'”
“Texans vs Chiefs right before Texans vs Ravens… crazy,” tweeted Nick Schwager.
“The NFL is pulling no punches for the Houston #Texans next year if this is accurate,” another person commented.
“Tough stretch, going to be imperative for the Texans to bank some wins before Week 16,” a Houston radio host said.
It’s hard to imagine a tougher pair of games for any team in the AFC if the Texans have to face Kansas City on Saturday and then Baltimore four days later. Hopefully there’s a lengthy break on the backend but who knows.
The league’s “Schedule Release Show” airs on the NFL Network at 8 PM ET tonight.
