The Texans won, and it was a hard, well-fought game.
You can all breathe a sigh of relief. I know y’all need to because I needed to as well.
The Houston Texans have improved their record to 4-1 after defeating the Buffalo Bills 23-20 in a game that went down to the very last second.
Buffalo got the scoring started with a field goal, after getting gashed by James Cook early, putting the Texans down 3-0 to start.
The Texans would turn it on and play what might be the best half of football they’ve put together so far this early season. First with a 15-yard touchdown run by Cam Akers, and then a magical one play, 67-yard touchdown drive from Stroud to Nico Collins, who would leave the game with a hamstring injury; 14-3 Texans.
The second quarter was quiet, with the only score coming from game MVP Ka’imi Fairbairn kicking a 50-yard field goal to end the half.
The third quarter was nothing short of disastrous for the Texans. The entire first half allowed no sacks on Stroud and zero penalties against the team. The third quarter would see that second stat change; coughing up six penalties in the third quarter alone and, after a 47-yard Fairbairn field goal to put the Texans up 20-3, giving up 14 points to the Bills on some really terrible decision making by the Texans in all three phases of the game.
The Bills would tie the game up in the fourth on a field goal and both teams would fight until the last play when Fairbairn handily drilled a 59-yard field goal to seal the win.
It was, for the most part, a well-played game by the Texans, save for that third quarter where the Texans seem to always have most, if not all, of their worst brain farts of the game.
It wasn’t their prettiest outing, but it was a winning outing, and that’s what matters at the end of the game.
Now you tell us what y’all think of today’s Texans victory!
Have at it and Go Texans!
