The Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs may steal Cowboys 1,300-yard trade candidate, Dameon Pierce this season. According to multiple reports, Pierce continues to be in trade rumors where sources are connecting him to Dallas but it seems imminent that he could land in a new uniform. The trade makes sense since the Texans already have two capable running backs in Joe Mixon and Cam Akers so they wouldn’t lose much since he isn’t already staying healthy. However, the Florida product is coming off a strong rookie campaign racking 1,100 yards from scrimmage while scoring five touchdowns.
He has a few bright spots to his abilities so it shouldn’t surprise if the Texans find a trade partner quickly. After signing Dalvin Cook to reinforce the backfield, the Cowboys are an interesting destination, but they might not stop them from trading for one more running back. However, it would Pierce’s career to get back on track where he would likely share the snaps with Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle even though the Cowboys have yet to see Cook play this year. Pierce provides fresh legs and may come at a low draft pick price in return for his services.

More Help For Derrick Henry
It would be foolish for John Harbaugh to not consider another running back to help starter Derrick Henry. The Ravens took a huge blow after losing Keaton Mitchell again but Justice Hill has luckily been performing well for them. Henry isn’t receiving the ball on every down as Harbaugh made it clear that he isn’t the entire offense. It may be safe to bet on someone like Pierce to share those snaps with him.
Pierce isn’t beating out Henry for the starting job but he could carve out a role in a championship team and put on a show. Perhaps, the Ravens could use Henry near red-zone situations while they could use Pierce to get extra yardage down the stretch. This would allow Baltimore to continue giving the ball to Hill in the passing attack if Lamar Jackson is under pressure in the pocket.
Superbowl Bound?
Pierce would most likely welcome a trade to the Chiefs as long as he can get some snaps behind Isiah Pacheco. It’s clear that Clyde Edwards-Helaire has yet to impress the coaching staff but somehow he won the backup role over Jerick McKinnon after moving on him this past offseason. However, the Chiefs are attempting to find a replacement and add valuable depth behind Pacheco by adding Samaje Perine. He’s only best as a third-stringer but someone like Pierce could probably win the backup job if the Chiefs give him that chance.
Other Potential Trade Destinations
New Orleans Saints
If the Saints don’t see anything in Kendre Miller this season, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if they cut him early. The running game has been solid for New Orleans but they need a third backfield player behind Jamaal Williams and Alvin Kamara. Pierce would find himself in a new role that would share those snaps with Williams in certain moments which would be the gateway to getting some shine on an offense. He would probably won’t get much playing time but if the Saints use Kamara often in the passing game then it’s possible they could use Williams and Pierce in the run attack.
Los Angeles Chargers
Jim Harbaugh is all about the run this season. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards have strong resumes of injuries so they can only go so far as if they can stay healthy. Joshua Kelley provides a future upside but if they want an extra swing backfield playmaker then they could use Pierce to share those snaps. It’s not the biggest need but being that the receiver depth chart looks weak for Justin Herbert, the Chargers must do what they can to get extra talent.
Carolina Panthers
Rookie Jonathon Brooks probably won’t start this year or get much more than a couple of snaps. However, it leaves Chuba Hubbard and a disappointing veteran Miles Sanders sharing snaps. The Panthers could continue to recast their offense after having a disastrous start already to their 2024 campaign. Pierce won’t drastically change the offense but it provides some extra support for Bryce Young to make a couple of plays in the backfield.
