Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans added some firepower to his secondary this Saturday in the form of a Pro Bowl cornerback.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Texans are signing cornerback Shaquill Griffin to a one-year deal.
Griffin was released this past March by the Jaguars. He’ll now get to face them twice next season.
On paper, Griffin should form a nice tandem with Derek Stingley Jr. at cornerback.
Jaguars fans, however, aren’t so sure the Texans elevated their defense with this signing.
Very solid above average tall athletic no.2 CB to pair with Stingley.
Desmond King there too.
Jalen Pitre and Jimmie Ward at safety.

Last season, Griffin had 29 total tackles and four pass breakups for the Jaguars.
Griffin’s best season came in 2019 with the Seahawks. He racked up 65 tackles and 13 pass breakups that year.
We’ll see if Griffin can rediscover his Pro Bowl form in Houston.
