Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is a serious fan of the Rams’ Matthew Stafford.
During a recent appearance on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Stroud discussed his appreciation for Stafford, who he said has influenced the way he plays the position.
Stroud also stirred the pot a little bit when he suggested that if Stafford had played on some of the teams Aaron Rodgers did in Green Bay, he would have more than one Super Bowl ring.
“If you gave Matthew Stafford a chance like Aaron Rodgers had, I guarantee you he might have more rings for sure,” Stroud said. “I’d say he’d have like three or four.”

There are a number of fans and media personalities who agree with Stroud’s take here, and even the ones that don’t seem to enjoy the fact he was willing to share it.
“A) CJ Stroud’s style of play makes so much sense now knowing he’s a fan of Stafford B) im open to any discussion about Stafford what if scenarios after his sb win. Stroud might actually be right,” said Fox Sports’ Jon Jansen.
“I’ve always been very aware that athletes are simply not very smart people when it comes to this kind of stuff but CJ Stroud on the other hand simply doesn’t miss on his takes,” another person said.
“Jets vs Texans this season is must watch TV. If you don’t think Rodgers is seeing all of this and using this as motivation, then you haven’t followed Rodgers career at all,” added Ryan Sampson of the New York Post.
“Congrats to stroud on achieving the distinction of being an S-Tier Ball Knower,” chimed in Uproxx’s Bill DeFilippo.
“Stroud is killing me, how has he come to these conclusions? Stafford would have 0 rings if he was in Rodgers position,” another person countered.
“I love CJ Stroud but we’ve been letting this man get off scott-free with some wild takes,” added a Bengals fan.
For those keeping tabs at home, the Texans won’t play Stafford and the Rams this season, but they do travel to New York to face the Jets.
That Thursday Halloween matchup just got some juice added to it.
