The Houston Texans silenced any critics who doubted their strategy of trading out of the first round to garner the right draft capital to land Pro Bowl receiver Stefon Diggs. Nineteen picks after its initial selection, Houston is in prime position to land a franchise cornerstone on Day 2.
Amid the chaos of Thursday night in Detroit, a handful of talented targets fell into the second round and onto Houston’s radar. Six quarterbacks were selected with the first 12 picks, tying the record for most passers taken in the first round set back in 1983. Fourteen of the first 15 selections came on the offensive side and 23 total players selected are known for leading scoring drives instead of preventing them.
The Texans have their pick of the crop at pick No.42. Caserio, who reportedly was interested in trading up into the first, might be willing to pull the trigger on the right prospect before even reaching the 10th pick of the second round.
