The Houston Texans will probably select a quarterback with the No. 2 pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. C.J. Stroud looms as a top candidate to go early on April 27.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Texans are hosting the former Ohio State quarterback for a visit Wednesday. Rapoport called Stroud “a strong option” for Houston if he’s still on the board.
Fans aren’t sure if the Texans will have the chance to draft Stroud, and some don’t see Houston as the best fit for the two-time Heisman Trophy finalist.

Per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Stroud and fellow No. 1 pick candidate Bryce Young are working out for the Indianapolis Colts on Monday. Unless they move up, both quarterbacks could be gone by the time the Colts are on the clock at No. 4.
Most evaluators throughout the NFL see a “gap at the position after Stroud and Young. If the teams picking at the top agree, Carolina can make Houston’s decision easy.
NFL Network’s Jesse Palmer said new Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans most values leadership, experience, and “it factor” among quarterbacks. However, a source told Peter King it’s possible they wait until the 12th pick to snag a signal-caller.
