The Houston Texans picked Jadeveon Clowney No. 1 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, and the coveted pass rusher spent his first five seasons in H-Town.
Since then, Clowney has bounced around, suiting up for the Seattle Seahawks (2019) and Tennessee Titans (2020) before spending the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
He remains an unsigned free agent and has been training in Houston, where he lives.
Clowney, 30, addressed the possibility of returning to the Texans in a recent interview with Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston.
“It’d be nice to be here,” Clowney told Berman. “All my family is here. Friends here. The guys I work out with can help me take care of my body a lot better being right up under them. … You never know. You never know what will happen. You never know what’s in front of you.”

The Texans posted four winning seasons and made the playoffs three times in Clowney’s five years with the franchise, but have gone just 11-38-1 over the last three seasons.
Still, Clowney feels Houston is showing some encouraging signs of growth for the future.
“I see they’re putting the pieces together,” he said. “I’m a big fan of their new head coach [DeMeco Ryans]. They’ve got some guys up front I think can go — Maliek [Collins] and they just got the rookie [Will Anderson] this year. It’ll be a big thing to see what they do this year. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do. Especially since I’m (based) here. I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.”
In 12 games in 2022, Clowney recorded 28 tackles, two sacks, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
