During this Thursday’s edition of FS1’s “The Herd,” former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman issued an apology to Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Edelman admit that he was skeptical of Stroud when the Texans drafted him No. 2 overall. The reason he was concerned about Stroud was because of Ohio State quarterbacks’ lack of success in the pros.
With that said, Edelman has seen enough this NFL season to know that Stroud can compete at the highest level.
“I want to apologize to C.J. Stroud because as soon as he got drafted, I’m sitting there going like, ‘Another Ohio State quarterback. We’ve already seen this a few times.’ When you play at a school like that, you have the best players,” Edelman said. “It’s hard to evaluate that position when you have the best receiver in the country going against the Louisiana-Lafayette’s a couple of weeks in the year.
“It was very surprising to me, but they’ve done a good job of keeping things simple. They’ve done a great job with their play-caller to quarterback relationship. It seems like he always knows where to go with the football.”

Stroud is completing 61.6 percent of his passes this season for 2,626 yards with 15 touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s well on track to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
If Stroud continues to lead the Texans to success this season, he could very well be the league’s MVP. There’s still a lot more football left to be played though.
