The Houston Texans solidified their status as contenders in the AFC this Wednesday, acquiring wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Buffalo Bills.
According to multiple reports, Buffalo acquired a 2025 second-round pick from Houston. As part of the deal, the Texans are receiving a fifth-round pick and sixth-round pick for the 2025 draft.
After the trade was announced, Texans legend J.J. Watt offered his thoughts on the move.
Let’s just say Watt is feeling awfully good about the future of the Texans.
“The last two off-seasons for the Texans have completely transformed the franchise,” Watt wrote on social media. “DeMeco Ryans, CJ Stroud, Will Anderson, Danielle Hunter, Stefon Diggs, etc. Houston is a top tier destination.”
Watt isn’t the only former player who’s confident in the Texans. Robert Griffin III also praised Houston for pulling off this deal.
The Texans showed a ton of promise this past season. In his first year as the team’s head coach, DeMeco Ryans made it to the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.
Since the Texans have C.J. Stroud on a rookie deal, they’re able to add expensive players this offseason like Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Texans perform this fall, especially since they won’t be flying under the radar.
