Fresh off clinching the AFC South division, the Houston Texans look to better their playoff seeding entering the holidays.
The Texans hit the road against the Kansas City Chiefs for a chance to bolster their playoff status in the hunt for their first Lombardi Trophy. With a win and a Baltimore Ravens victory, Houston would be tied for the No. 3 seed in the AFC.
The two AFC teams meet next Wednesday at NRG Stadium on Christmas Day as part of a two-game series with Netflix.
The Chiefs have been one of the league’s more consistent — and lucky — roster amid a race to 13-1. Eleven wins have come by one possession, including close calls against the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers.
Kansas City might be getting back wide receiver Hollywood Brown, but quarterback Patrick Mahomes could be limited after suffering an ankle injury in Week 15’s win over the Cleveland Browns. He’s expected to start, but any regression in the game could lead to a switch before halftime with it being a short week.

Chiefs vs Texans predictions, picks, odds
Texans 27, Chiefs 17: Coming off a strong defensive outing, Houston should carry that momentum on the road against Kansas City. On a short week with an injured quarterback, this feels like a trap game for the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes might start, but I won’t be shocked if Carson Wentz plays the fourth quarter to give the two-time MVP a chance to rest up before taking on the Steelers on Christmas.
