The Houston Texans are giving Stefon Diggs a lot of motivation and money for the 2024 season, that’s for sure.
On Thursday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Houston wiped out the final three years on Diggs’ contract after acquiring him from Buffalo. He’ll be a free agent next offseason.
Diggs is assured $22.52 million in guaranteed money for the 2024 season.
Overall, the contract extension that Diggs signed with the Bills in 2022 ended up being a one-year, $43.1 million deal. That’s because Buffalo gave him an additional $20.9 million that season as part of the contract.
That’s obviously a huge win for Diggs and his agent.
Diggs could increase his career earnings by playing well for the Texans this fall. After all, he’ll get to hit the open market once the season is over.
The Texans could always offer Diggs a long-term extension if he ends up being a great fit for the organization.
Since entering the league in 2015, Diggs has racked up 810 catches for 9,995 yards and 67 touchdowns. He’ll join a receiving core in Houston that features Nico Collins and Tank Dell.
