Stefon Diggs will be wearing a new number with the Houston Texans.
Instead of wearing No. 14, he’ll be wearing No. 1, and he had to pay a hefty price for it.
According to Aaron Wilson, Diggs has to pay safety Jimmie Ward $100,000 for the jersey number. Ward will be wearing his old No. 20.
Diggs was dealt to the Texans for a second-round pick earlier this week and is now their top wide receiver. The Texans are all-in on trying to win a Super Bowl during C.J. Stroud’s rookie contract.
Outside of Diggs, the Texans also have Nico Collins at the wideout position, plus Joe Mixon at running back and Dalton Schultz at tight end. They have plenty of weapons for Stroud and are setting him up for even more success in 2024.
The Texans are fresh off a playoff berth after they won the AFC South. They won it at the very end of the season and got rewarded with a home playoff game against the Cleveland Browns.
They blew the Browns out in that game before losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round. They now have their eyes set on a bigger prize for next season.
