Texans come from behind to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars
Cam Akers only gained 53 rushing yards on 13 carries, Stefon Diggs caught 5 passes for 69 yards and Danielle Hunter only had 2 combined tackles. The Jacksonville Jaguars led at the end of the 1st quarter and Houston certainly didn’t look like they were ready to easily defeat a winless team.
But they found a way to win.
How?
C.J. Stroud and Nico Collins.
Collins had 12 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown. With this, the current NFL receiving leader has 489 yards on the season, with the 2nd place pass catcher, New York Giants Malik Nabers 103 yards behind him at 386.
Stroud seemed to return to form as well.

Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud, in his 19th-career game, passed for 345 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Texans’ 24-20 win over Jacksonville.
Stroud has five career games with at least 300 passing yards, two touchdown passes and no interceptions and joins Justin Herbert (six games) and Patrick Mahomes (five) as the only players with five such games in their first 20 career games in NFL history.
While most of the star players on the Texans defense, Will Anderson Jr., Derek Stingley Jr. and Hunter were relatively silent in stats and highlight reel plays, Henry To’To’o, Azeez Al-Shaair and Tim Settle Jr. continue to make names for themselves in the halls of Houston history. Along with rookies Calen Bullock and Kamari Lassiter the “new faces” (minus team vet To’oTo’o that is) combined for 26 tackles.
Not exactly a glorious defensive outing, but good enough to get the W. Announced to me via text from my Vikings fan friend, J, who is slowly gaining the Texans fever. Once the Vikings choke in a wide-left, Favre-fumble sort of manner, maybe he’ll come over to root for Stroud and the men of H-Town.
In the meantime, it was the Buffalo Bills time to get shellacked last night when the Baltimore Ravens put a 35-10 hurting on them. Does that mean Buffalo will try and make a statement by crushing the Texans next weekend? Or will H-Town prevail in front of a home crowd craving another big win?
If Joe Mixon and Tank Dell return and Demeco Ryans can get his defense firing on all cylinders, Buffalo might have a 2nd straight loss on their hands.
For now let’s just revel in the current 3-1 lead of the AFC South. Hopefully the BESFs lose tonight in Miami because the only thing better than 1 winless rival team in the South is 2 winless rival teams. Especially if 1 of them likes to masquerade as a former Houston team.
Heal up Mixon, your quarterback needs you next weekend.
