C.J. Stroud is only a little over two months into his tenure with the Houston Texans, but he’s already establishing a rapport with his receivers.
Houston doesn’t exactly have a loaded depth chart of pass catchers, though new head coach DeMeco Ryans is hopeful the group can “surprise a lot of people.”
According to ESPN’s D.J. Bien-Aime, third-year wide receiver Nico Collins has been building a chemistry with Stroud, the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft.
“For Stroud, Collins has appeared to be his favorite target throughout the spring,” Bien-Aime wrote. “Collins has been able to stand out with big-play catches from Stroud, but since being selected in the third round of the 2021 draft, he has just 70 catches for 927 yards and three touchdowns.”
Ohio State fans might find it humorous that Stroud’s reported favorite target is a Michigan man. Hey, they’re on the same team now, so whatever works.
As for Stroud, the early returns out of Houston have apparently been positive. He’s got a long way to go, but that should be encouraging news for Texans fans.
Stroud’s first NFL training camp will begin Wednesday, July 26.
