C.J. Stroud is about to begin his second season in the NFL.
He exceeded all expectations as a rookie, winning NFL Rookie of the Year and leading the Houston Texans to a divisional title. They also won a playoff game before losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC divisional round.
Stroud finished the season with 4,108 yards through the air, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
He doesn’t have many major things to work on for this upcoming season but head coach DeMeco Ryans thinks he could grow in the leadership department.
“Where can we see him grow in his second year? It’s his leadership, first and foremost, continue to become the leader that we want him to be,” Ryans said, via On3.
Now that he’s in his second season, he can be a mentor for some of the rookies and other second-year players. He can also be a mentor for some of the other veterans on the roster.
The Texans have higher expectations for this upcoming season and will be going for another division title, along with a deeper playoff run.
They’ll start the regular season against the Indianapolis Colts on September 8.
