It appears the Texans will be without rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud for the second game in a row.
On Wednesday afternoon, Stroud wasn’t seen at practice. He’s still in concussion protocol.
“Texans QB CJ Stroud is not yet back at practice for Houston, a bad sign for his availability this week,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said. “Stroud is still in the concussion protocol.”
Stroud suffered a concussion on Dec. 10 against the Jets. Case Keenum replaced him last Sunday in the starting lineup and led the Texans to an overtime win over the Titans.
Keenum completed 23-of-36 pass attempts last Sunday for 229 yards with one touchdown and an interception. We’d have to imagine he’ll start yet again if Stroud is inactive.

The timing of Stroud’s absence is brutal, especially since the Texans are vying for a playoff spot. Prior to getting hurt, the Ohio State product had 3,631 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Hopefully, Stroud can return to the gridiron on Dec. 31 when the Texans face the Titans.
