C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young have been close since their days as high school football stars in California. And that remained through their college careers as Heisman Trophy finalists and faces of their respective programs.
It’s also continued into the NFL where Stroud was happy for Young after he was named QB1 in Carolina. But the No. 2 pick says he’s staying focused on his situation with the Texans and controlling what he can control.
Yeah, that’s my brother, man. I’m happy for him, but his situation is his situation and my situation is mine. So, I know I’ve gotta work on my end and do whatever I gotta do to make this team better. It’s not about starter, who’s not the starter. It’s about getting better for Week 1 against Baltimore. So, right now, we’re just building a team. It’s not just about individuals.
Stroud already looks like he’s handling his media responsibilities like the franchise QB that Houston drafted him to be.
By all accounts, Stroud has been very impressive dating back to rookie minicamp. But as of right now, the rookie is still splitting first-team reps with returning starter Davis Mills who’s played in 28 games for the team over the past two years.
