Help could be on the way for Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
According to Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle, All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has expressed interest in rejoining the Texans.
Last week, the Cardinals released Hopkins. The veteran wideout is reportedly gauging interest from multiple teams now that he’s on the open market.
Hopkins would certainly give the Texans’ receiving corps a boost. That unit currently features Robert Woods, Nico Collins and John Metchie III.
On the flip side, an argument can be made that Hopkins doesn’t fit the Texans’ timeline. They’re trying to rebuild the franchise with DeMeco Ryans at the helm.
If Hopkins truly wants to play for a contender, he’ll probably have to pass up a reunion with Texans.
C.J. Stroud getting a WR1 like DeAndre Hopkins this early into his career could be massive for his development.
Currently the closest thing the #Texans have for a veteran number 1 option at WR is 31-year old Robert Woods who averaged less than 10 yards a catch less season. https://t.co/01hfj4qIoV

That being said, it would be fun to watch Hopkins catch passes from a potential-packed quarterback like Stroud.
Despite missing eight games last season, Hopkins still had 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns.
